World’s Finest Chocolate Sale (K-8)

Our school is set to begin our only mandatory fundraiser for 2023-2024 on Tuesday, January 16th. We will be selling World’s Finest Chocolate Products – delicious chocolates that have been sold for years by schools and organizations. One taste will tell you where they got their name, and you are sure to find people in your neighborhood who have been World’s Finest fans for years. If every family sales a box, we can make a profit of $9000! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Leone at [email protected]

The Saint Vincent de Paul Donation Truck

ONE DAY ONLY

Sunday, January 14th, 8:30am to1:30pm

Please check your closets for gently used clothes and shoes that you no longer wear and can donate to those in need. Used items must be clean and in wearable condition (do not give stained, ripped, or worn-out clothes). Then bring your items to church next Sunday to donate to the St. Vincent de Paul truck. The truck will be parked near the church entrance on Kessel Street during the designated hours only. Please tell your friends, and thank you for your generosity! The St. Vincent de Paul donation truck will return to our church once more this year, on or about November 3rd. Watch the Bulletin for further details.

“KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS” POSTER CONTEST

In conjunction with Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy, the Our Lady of Mercy Knights of Columbus (Council#17652) sponsored a Keep Christ in Christmas Poster Contest. In total,58 students took part and we are happy to announce that the winners were Tobias Koo (6th grade); Luka Esquen (8th Grade); and Yana Shalko (8th Grade). The Knights judged the posters on clarity of theme, the effectiveness of the visuals, and success of the poster in capturing your attention and promoting reflection on the theme! A sincere thank you to all the participants and particularly the three winners!

Winter Coat Drive

From the Desk of Fr. Frank

You may be aware of the immigrant families that have been bussed into New York City from our Mexican Border, leaving the city, charities, and churches to support them with shelter, food and clothing. Among these immigrants are hundreds of young children who have traveled a great distance and now find themselves in New York City, in wintertime, without a coat. Our parish wants to collect and distribute donated coats to these children before the freezing cold temperatures are upon us. Please look around your home for gently used coats that your own children no longer need or have outgrown. Please see below when and where to drop off the coats, and we will deliver them to Father Edward Mason, the Pastor of St. John Cantius/St. Gabriel Parish in East New York, Brooklyn. Father Mason will distribute the coats to immigrant children during their Sunday dinners at his parish hall. Our hope is that this Coat Drive will be so successful and that Father Mason will have enough coats to supply to some of our neighboring pastors who are facing similar challenges with their new immigrant parishioners. There will be bins in the Church and School Vestibule
