Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy will be having a special Dress Down for Breast Cancer Awareness on Friday, October 13th. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink. Dress Down is for $2.00.  Additional donations will be accepted.

We are doing this in support of Ms. Revette Hinkson. All proceeds will benefit her walk on Sunday, October 15th. Together, we can make strides toward a cure! If you would like to learn more about why she walks, please visit:

Come join our Parish, including the Religious Education and OLMCA students, in Praying the Holy Rosary.

We will have a life-sized Rosary for everyone to pray together. Luncheon and fellowship to follow in the Parish Hall Come To Honor Our Lady!

***In the event of inclement weather we will gather in the Parish Hall***

Winter Uniform

Please note that starting on Monday, October 16th, winter uniforms must be worn. Kindly review the uniform policy in the Family Handbook. Some gently worn uniforms are still available in the main office.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports will be distributed to students in Grades 1-8 on October 19th. We ask that you sign and return the reports by the following Monday. I would like to remind you that all grades are consistently posted on FACTS and to reach out to your child’s teacher for any questions.

Rosary Altar Society

Is something missing in your spiritual life? Could you use a little more Mary? What about some fellowship? Why not join the Rosary Altar Society. We are a group of women and men who love our Blessed Mother and come together spiritually and socially to promote devotion to her. We usually meet every 1st Saturday of the month in the Parish hall after the 9:00 AM Mass. Come join us for Faith and Fellowship. If interested, contact Fabienne at 917-434-7060

Picture Day

Individual Pictures and 8th Grade Graduate portraits will be held on Tuesday, October 17th. Students may dress up or wear their full school uniform in Grades 3K-Grade 7.

For Graduation portraits, Lifetouch will provide the cap and gown. The boys need to wear a white shirt and tie. The girls must wear a modest V-neck top. If you have any questions, please call the school office at 718-793-2086.

Home Academy Association (HAA)

Our next HAA meeting is Thursday, October 19th at 7pm in the school gym. As a reminder, all parents that attend will earn a dress down pass for their child. Please note that the HAA is intended for parents only.

At Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy we want parents to get involved in the lives of our school and community. This meeting will explain the function of the HAA and how parents can get involved. This platform gives families the opportunity to join in making OLMCA the best it can be. We value your input and need your help to achieve all of our goals! Without you we cannot do it. If you have any questions, please contact the HAA Executive Board at [email protected].
