Erin Freeley

As an alum of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy and a parent of both a 2nd grader and a 5th grader, I am deeply committed to the success and growth of our school community. With a full-time career in public relations and communications, I bring a wealth of experience in managing projects, leading teams, and fostering meaningful relationships.

My professional background equips me with the skills necessary to support the PTA President in planning and executing events, managing committees, and ensuring effective communication between parents, teachers, and the school administration. I am passionate about contributing to the school’s mission and building a strong, collaborative community. I look forward to the opportunity to bring my expertise and dedication to the role of Vice President, helping create a supportive and enriching environment for all students and families.

Marie-Noëlle Lang

Hello my name is Marie-Noëlle Lang, our family is new to OLMCA. My husband and I chose this school for its diverse community and active school spirit. I look forward to the many events and fundraisers in the upcoming year, for both the students and parents. I am putting in my candidacy for the vice president of the HAA. I am aware of the duties and responsibilities and will try my best to always prioritize our students and the school .

A little bit about my background; I have had some first-hand experience with organizing fundraisers and relief funds with large groups of volunteers. For the past 30 years I have been a member of Forgotten Children of Haiti, a nonprofit organization that fundraises in the New York area to raise financial support for an orphanage and hospice in Haiti. I am also a medical aid for FHHH, Foundation for Hope and Heath in Haiti, a nonprofit that runs medical clinics in Haiti. I am currently a registered nurse working at a community hospital on Long Island with a diverse community that has its own challenges. My husband and I are active supporters for their many fundraisers that benefit the hospital system. My family has been working for years with the Mary House and the Church of the Good Apostle missions of NYC, where we regularly bring donations and assist with networking that will bring added assistance and resources to those in need.

I am organized and detail oriented when it comes to coordinating an event. I am adaptive in problem solving should unexpected circumstances arise, and look for innovative ways to draw in an audience. I enjoy meeting new people and collaborating with vendors and donors who will help make events a success. Having been brought up in a Catholic school myself, I remember my motivation to help in fundraising for those in need as well as for my school and my peers, this instilled a sense of service and community. I hope my past and present experiences will be an advantage to all of you, and that I will learn so much from the HAA and the OLMCA family. Thank you for your consideration.

Rosary Rally-Tuesday, October 15th

October is the month of the Rosary. On Friday, October 15, 2024, at 1:00pm, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy invites everyone to pray the Rosary with the 1st through 8th graders in celebration of the 8th Grade’s Confirmation.

Unity Day- Wednesday, October 16th

Unity Day is typically held every year on either the third or fourth Wednesday of National Bullying Prevention Month in October. However, if the date chosen for Unity Day does not work for your school or community, you’re encouraged to choose another day during National Bullying Prevention Month that works for you. Unity Day is held during October, and orange is a color commonly identified with that month and season. It is also a color associated with safety and visibility. Orange is described as warm and inviting, and its vibrancy makes a strong statement.

As part of Unity Day this year, OLMCA’s Student Council would like to contribute to hurricane relief. We are asking each student to dress down for $1.00 and all proceeds will go to benefit the victims and families impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Progress Reports

Progress Reports will be distributed to students in Grades 1-8 on October 17th. We ask that you sign and return the reports by the following Monday. I would like to remind you that all grades are consistently posted on FACTS and contact your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions or concerns. If you are having any difficulties logging into your FACTS account, please contact Mrs. Roy at [email protected].
