Ash Wednesday Schedule

Our Lady of Mercy’s Ash Wednesday schedule is as follows: 

9am Mass (Grades 5-8 attend), 12pm Prayer Service (Grades K-4 attend), 3pm Prayer Service, and 7:30pm Mass. Please see the date as Our Lady of Mercy was selected to be part of the Diocese’s Lenten Pilgrimage on February 27^th. More to follow!

Re-registration 

Priority registration for current students and their relatives began on Wednesday, January 17^th.  Families must be current on this year’s tuition to register for next year. It is imperative that you return the form with the fee as soon as possible to ensure that your child has a seat for the 2024-2025 school year. All re-registration documents must be submitted as soon as possible. If you need an additional form, please contact Ms. Hinkson at [email protected].

Financial Aid

Financial aid applications for students in Grades K-8, who attend a Brooklyn or Queens School or Academy has begun. Once you have registered for next year, you can apply online for a Diocesan scholarship. Families who apply during the first round are the only ones eligible for the maximum scholarship. • March 31, 2024- Returning Families who received an award in the previous academic year
• April 30, 2024- New Families (students who did not receive an award in previous academic year)

Save the Date: State of the Academy

There will be a State of the Academy on Thursday, February 8th at 7:00p.m. in the school gym. Please enter through the side door. During this meeting, you will have an opportunity to meet members of the Board of Trustees.  You will hear an informative presentation about current happenings and our plan for continuous improvement.

Please join The Rosary and Altar Society for our first -ever sponsored "Breakfast Talk" with Guest Homilist and Speaker, Father Victor Hoagland, CP. Father Victor Hoagland, C.P. is a Catholic priest and a member of the Passionist community. He resides at the Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, New York. He’s the author of numerous spiritual books and videos. Father Victor will celebrate the 9 AM Mass and, afterwards in the Parish Hall, will give a talk on "Knowing Mary Through the Scriptures." Come for the Mass and the talk and to enjoy our Rosarian hospitality. You won't be disappointed!

PATRICK / ST. JOSEPH DAY PARTY

Please join the Knights of Columbus on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm in the Lower Church Hall . as we celebrate two great saints, St. Patrick and St. Joseph. We will have a DJ, pipers, drums, dance and music performances, Irish and Italian cuisine and drink. More info and fliers with reservation information to follow. Everyone is invited and we hope to see our Parish, school and neighborhood community there for what always is a fun night.

Mid-Winter Recess Reminder

Friday, February 16^th is a regular dismissal for all students. There is no extended care on Friday, February 16^th. OLMCA will be closed Monday, February 19^th through Friday, February 23^rd  for Mid-winter Recess.

Easter Recess

It’s hard to believe that Spring recess is right around the corner. As a reminder, Wednesday, March 27^th is a 12:30pm dismissal. There is no Extended Care on this day. Lunch will be served at 11:30am. OLMCA will be closed for Spring recess. Classes resume on Monday, April 8^th.

This Valentine’s Day, make someone’s heart pop! Send your favorite OLMCA student and faculty a sweet treat this Valentine’s Day. Complete the form that was sent home by Monda, February 12^th. All proceeds will go toward graduation expenses for our fantastic eighth grade class!
