Principal Newsletter 2.8.23

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Progress Reports

Progress Reports will be distributed to students in Grades 1-8 on Thursday, February 9. We ask that you sign and return the reports by the following Monday. I would like to remind you that all grades are consistently posted on FACTS.

Re-registration

Priority registration for current students and their relatives began on Tuesday, January 17th.  Families must be current on this year’s tuition to register for next year. It is imperative that you return the form with the fee as soon as possible to ensure that your child has a seat for the 2023-2024 school year. All re-registration documents must be submitted as soon as possible. If you need an additional form, please contact Ms. Hinkson at [email protected].

OLM WINTER BLOOD DRIVE Sunday, 2/26/2023, 8:45am  to 2:45pm, Parish Hall

There is no substitute for human blood. One in three people will need blood at some time during their lives.  One donation can help save three lives. Approximately every 3 seconds a person in need is receiving a transfusion. The New York Blood Center's need to maintain optimum inventories remains constant, especially at this time.   To make an appointment, please go to NYBC.org. Use the Donate Blood tab (under the New York Blood Center logo) and when the drop down appears, click on Schedule Donation. Click on the Sponsor Name Search tab and then enter Our Lady of Mercy. Enter 02/26/2023 in both the Start Date and End Date boxes, and click on Search. On the next page, click on Schedule and when the next page appears, choose Whole Blood or Automated Red Cell (automated red cell is a double red cell donation) and then select your donation time.  You may also schedule an appointment by calling the Blood Center at 1-800-933-2566.   For the safety of the donors and Blood Center workers, donors must wear masks and observe social distancing throughout the entire donation process.   Remember to bring your donor card or your donor ID number, if you have one, and a photo ID on February 26th. Eat a good meal before donating and do not skip breakfast!  It only takes a little of your time. Please help save lives.

TUNE IN!

In an effort to reach as many parishioners as possible, Bishop Robert Brennan is announcing two important initiatives:  1. Big City Catholics Podcast - Each Friday, join Bishop Brennan as he discusses his travels throughout the diocese, shares stories of his episcopal ministry , and explores the questions of faith that impact our everyday lives as parents, friends, and professionals.  You can subscribe on your favorite podcast platform or go to podcast.dioceseofbrooklyn.org  2. Facebook: Bishop Robert Brennan - Travel along with him in his service to Catholics in Brooklyn and Queens and listen to his inspirational Sunday scripture reflections. Since social media has fundamentally changed how people communicate, Bishop Brennan’s usage of his Facebook forum helps bring the Church’s teachings into what Pope Benedict XVI called the “digital continent”                      Go to www.facebook.com/bishopofbrooklyn
