Parent Teacher Conferences (3K-Grade 8)

The Second Trimester will conclude on Thursday, March 14th. Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on Thursday, March 21st from 1-3 PM and again from 6-8 PM for all students (Grades 3K-8) of OLMCA. 

 

There is a 12:30 PM dismissal for all students. Your child’s teacher sent out a link for you to schedule your appointment on Thursday, March 14th. Report cards for students in Grades K-8 will be sent home on Wednesday, March 20th.

 

Please note that accounts must be fully up to date for you to receive your child’s report card and meet your child’s teacher. We will be giving courtesy letters to families that are not fully up to date. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Leone at [email protected] or 718-793-2086.

 

Hot lunch will be served at 11:30 am for all students. There will be extended Care from 12:30 PM-5:30 PM.

PARISH PANCAKE BREAKFAST

Sunday March 24th in the Parish Hall  9:30 am to 12:30 pm

 

The Knights of Columbus Council at Our Lady of Mercy and Boy Scout Troop 349 will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday 24 March. All proceeds will be donated to OLM parish to help defray the costs of needed parish repairs.   Cost is $7 per person. Children under 5 are free. Breakfast of pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee.   Please come down and spend a nice Sunday morning (Palm Sunday) with your family and fellow parishioners and support our parish.

 

ON EASTER SUNDAY THERE WILL BE AN EASTER EGG HUNT!

 

Easter Sunday, after the 10:30am Mass, there will once again be an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. Please bring at least 2 surprise filled plastic eggs for each child who wishes to participate (extras are always appreciated for unexpected guests). Please deposit the eggs in the baskets that will be in the vestibule prior to the 10:30am Mass.  After Mass we ask that the children assembly on the Juno Street lawn, - 5 years and older on the side nearest St. Francis and those younger than 5 on the other side of the walkway, for the “Hunt”.  Easter Recess

It’s hard to believe that Spring recess is right around the corner. As a reminder, Wednesday, March 27th is a 12:30pm dismissal. There is no Extended Care on this day. Lunch will be served at 11:30am. OLMCA will be closed for Spring recess. Classes resume on Monday, April 8th.   

Re-registration 

Priority registration for current students and their relatives began on Wednesday, January 17th.  Families must be current on this year’s tuition to register for next year. It is imperative that you return the form with the fee as soon as possible to ensure that your child has a seat for the 2024-2025 school year. All re-registration documents must be submitted as soon as possible. If you need an additional form, please contact Mrs. D’Esposito at [email protected] or Ms. Leone at [email protected].  

 

Financial Aid

Financial aid applications for students in Grades K-8, who attend a Brooklyn or Queens School or Academy has begun. Once you have registered for next year, you can apply online for a Diocesan scholarship. Families who apply during the first round are the only ones eligible for the maximum scholarship.   • March 31, 2024- Returning Families who received an award in the previous academic year
  • April 30, 2024- New Families (students who did not receive an award in previous academic year)

Summer Rising Program in NYC DOE

Summer Rising 2024 is a partnership between New York City Public Schools and the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). Summer Rising is free and available to all NYC students in grades K-8, pending seat availability. Students in Summer Rising will have access to both academic and enrichment programming over the course of the day, including field trips, arts activities, and outdoor recreation.

A typical day for students in grades K–8 will include a mix of academic support, social emotional learning, and enrichment activities. Academics will be provided by licensed teachers in the morning. Enrichment activities (such as art, sports, and play) will be led by staff in the afternoons and on Fridays. Staff will also facilitate enrichment in the morning, alongside academics, for K-5 programs. 

The Summer Rising portal is open until March 25! Applications will be submitted using your a NYC MySchools account . You can find your NYC MySchools account information by emailing Ms. Mccann at [email protected] or visiting a Family Welcome Center (Family Welcome Centers (nyc.gov)
