Principal Newsletter 9.27.23

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Covid-19 Update from the Diocese of Brooklyn

COVID -19 Guidelines for individuals who test positive remain similar to last year:

  • Staff and students should report positive COVID cases or any other confirmed illness that can spread to others to the school.
  • Stay home if sick: Students and staff should stay home if they show any symptoms of COVID-19 or other any other illness and consult their healthcare provider.
  • Isolate if COVID-19 positive: Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must isolate for 5 days and can return to school on day 6 if they have no symptoms or symptoms are improving. They should wear a mask until day 10 after symptom onset or date of positive test, whichever is earlier. Masks may be removed during this period if the person has received two negative rapid tests 48 hours apart.
  • CDC recommends students and staff who are exposed to COVID-19 should get tested. These individuals should take two tests, at least 48 hours apart. All exposed individuals should monitor for fever and other COVID-19 symptoms for 10 days after their exposure. If symptoms begin, they should not attend school and should isolate and get tested for COVID-19 again right away.
  • It is recommended that anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 or may have been exposed to COVID-19 follow the recommendations of their healthcare provider for treatment and testing recommendations.
  • It is recommended that individuals consult with their healthcare provider regarding vaccination.

Catholic Social Justice Curriculum

Students in Grades K-8 will study a different theme and value each month as part of the Catholic Social Justice Curriculum. During the month of October, OLMCA will focus on the theme of “Call to Family, Community, and Participation.” The essential understanding is that family is essential to our human lives and that OLMCA serves as a type of family!
