Happy Lunar New Year! Nursery welcomed in the Year of the Rat with special crafts, a celebration that included dumplings, spring rolls, oranges and egg roll cookies. We even had a parade around our school singing and dancing. The children enjoyed this fun-filled day!

Will the groundhog see it’s shadow? We will wait and see! February is always a busy month for Nursery. In February we will be learning about being kind to others, Valentine’s Day, President’s Day and the letters Q, R, and S.

What a fun event our annual “Christmas Party” was! We sang some of our favorite songs, feasted on some delicious treats and celebrated with our family and friends. Every student went home with a painting of a stocking they created and some special hot chocolate that one of our classmates made.

In the month of January we will be learning about the season of winter and hibernation. The students will create snowmen, polar bears and penguins. We will answer questions such as “What animals hibernate in the winter?”, “Why do penguins have webbed feet?” and “How do we dress when it is snowing?”. We are looking forward to a splendid month ahead of us!

This month we have been very busy learning about the season of Advent. An Advent wreath was created to “light” each week to prepare for the birth of Jesus. We received a special visitor from the North Pole, our “Elf on the Shelf” arrived. The students voted and decided to name her “Ruby”! The holiday season is in full swing and our hallway is decorated with our incredible Christmas crafts! The class enjoyed our annual Polar Express Day; where we wear our pajamas, walk on “railroad tracks” and enter the room by receiving a ticket from a special conductor(Ms. McCann)! We wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our Nursery students have been very busy learning about pumpkins and the special upcoming holidays. This month we worked on a very important Veteran’s Day Project with the 6th grade. They helped us create a soldier craft and color poppies. In the STEM lab we worked with the 5th grade and built structures with candy pumpkins and toothpicks. Our structures were amazing!
What a fun event our annual “Pumpkin Patch” was! Every student went home with a big pumpkin. Our class concluded the month with a Halloween Candy Service Project. Students in every grade were asked to donate some of their Halloween candy. We received a generous assortment of candy from our students! Nursery will donate the candy to the OLM food pantry.

Happy Fall! October is such an exciting month! We will be learning about the wonderful season of Autumn, fire prevention, and the letters B,C,D,E and F. Our students have been very busy testing “Apple Experiments” in our new S.T.E.M. Lab and playing with our new S.T.E.M toys. We are looking forward to a wonderful month ahead of us!
