History

Our Lady of Mercy School opened its doors on February 14, 1967. The official date for the dedication of the new school was set for May 14, 1967, and plans were laid for solemn ceremonies, with the Most Rev. Bryan J. McEntegart, Archbishop-Bishop of Brooklyn, officiating.

Joseph Mathieu, A.I.A., plans were approved by the Diocesan Building Commission and ground was broken in February, 1966 for the new school and convent.

Monsignor Hickey was able to secure the services of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the school as they would comprise the teaching staff.
