This February, the students in Nursery 2 have had many new experiences. We had a Mardi Gras parade and a breakfast of freshly made waffles on Fat Tuesday, we exchanged Valentines for Valentine’s Day, and learned how to wish each other a “Happy New Year” in both Mandarin and Cantonese for the Chinese New Year. On February 16, we received red envelopes and enjoyed some authentic Chines cuisine. We look forward to all of the adventures we will have in the coming months!
Nursery 2 had a lot of fun kicking off January by having a New Year party together in class. We danced, toasted with apple juice, had snacks, and watched the ball drop on our smart board. This month, we are learning about winter weather, snowflakes, Arctic animals, snowmen, and the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We created our MLK Jr. projects using a balloon painting technique. We also had a surprise visit from our first mystery reader! Thank you, Mr. Marlon for joining us for story time!
December was a fun and exciting month for us in Nursery 2. We have been anxiously awaiting Jesus’ birth, singing and dancing along to Christmas classics, and exploring all different types of winter activities. We have created Christmas tree ornaments, guardian angels, penguins, and snowmen to make our hallway and classroom look merry and bright. We visited church and made our very own Advent wreaths to take home and “light” with our families. We took a ride on the Polar Express and Ms. McCann was our conductor! We even had a surprise visit from St. Nicholas who left candy canes in our shoes! We look forward to ringing in the New Year together after we return from winter recess. Happy holidays and a joyous New Year from our Nursery 2 family to yours!
This month we will be learning about leaves, autumn, Thanksgiving, the Mayflower journey, turkeys, and what it means to be thankful for all of the wonderful things with which we are blessed.
