Pre-K 4’s Specials Schedule
Monday: Technology 9:00-9:30
Tuesday: Library 10:15-10:45
Wednesday: Music 10:15-10:45
(Children must wear sneakers to school on gym days)
Thursday: Art 10:45-11:15
Friday: Gym 9:35-10:05
Our unit for the month of February is “Light”. We will be talking about how and why we use different kinds of light. We will talk about the different kinds of lights that are around us such as the sun, the stars, traffic lights, and light bulbs. Children will deepen their understanding of natural and man-made sources of light. We will also explore darkness and shadows. Together we will be making a shadow theatre and puppets to use in our theatre. The children will have the opportunity to put on their own shadow play using puppets that they made.

Our unit for the month of January is “Transportation”. This month we will be talking about and exploring all different types of vehicles such as cars, bicycles, airplanes, trains, and so much more. We will talk about how our community uses various modes of transportation and specifically how we use different forms of transportation and why. We will be making a train out of recycled materials such as boxes, paper towel tubes, and paper plates. We will work together to paint and decorate our train. Our dramatic play center will be turned into a train station. The children will take turns being the conductor, engineer, ticket collector, etc. We will also talk about who operates the vehicles in our community.

January 22nd: Pajama Day! Children may dress in their pajamas for $1.00. Special Person’s Day from 10:00- 10:45 in the Parish Hall. Bedtime Stories event from 3:00-4:00.
January 23rd: Storybook Character Day. Children may dress up as their favorite storybook character for $2.00.
January 24th: Chinese New Year Celebration! Please have your child wear red or gold today.
Our unit for the month of December is “Where We Live”. We will be talking about the neighborhoods that we live in as well as the different types of homes that we live in. We will discuss the different stores and shops that we can find in a neighborhood such as a post office, library, pizzeria, etc. We will be turning our dramatic play center into a bakery. The children will taking turns playing different roles in the bakery. We will also explore where animals live and how their homes are different than our homes.

Our unit for the month of November is “All About Us”. We will be talking about what makes us important and unique as well as what makes our families important and unique. We will talk about the different feelings we may have and why we have these feelings. We will also learn more about the season of fall and the changes that occur in our community during this season. We will talk about the different activities that we can do with our families during the season of fall.

Our unit for the month of October is “My Five Senses”. We will discuss how our senses help us to explore, investigate, and understand the world around us. We will spend time talking about and exploring all five senses. We will use our senses to learn about the season of fall. Some activities that we will be doing are apple taste tests, nature walks, and making our own play dough!

Our first unit of the year is “All about Me”. We will start this unit the second week of school.
Every child is special and unique in their own way! This unit will help us to share about ourselves while also exploring and learning about each other. In the month of September we will also be getting to know our school, classroom, and classroom routines. Children will have fun exploring our classroom and all of the toys and learning materials that it offers. Children will get accustomed to their new classroom and the routines that are in place.

September 5: First day for Pre-K from 8:30-10:30.
September 6: Pre-K from 8:30-10:30.
September 9: First full day of school (8:30-2:50). Extended Care begins.

Welcome to Pre-K 4’s class page! Here you will find important reminders, dates, and information about our current unit/theme. I am so excited to be your child’s Pre-K teacher and ready for a fun and exciting year!
Some important reminders as we start our school year:
- Please send in all forms that were included in your child’s folder on back-to-school night.
- Please send in 10 pictures of your child for future projects.
- Please send in a spare change of clothes in a clearly labeled Ziploc bag.
- Please label anything that belongs to your child (sweaters, schoolbags, water bottles, etc.)
School starts at 8:30 a.m.
School starts at 8:00 a.m. for children who are participating in the optional religion class.If you would like your child to participate in the optional religion class, please make sure to fill out the form and send in payment.
School dismisses at 2:50 p.m. every day.
