Principal Newsletter 11.5.18

After a fun-filled Halloween day of costumes and candy, we celebrated All Saints Day with an incredibly powerful and moving presentation of the Saints led by Mrs. Starace’s Second Grade class. On Friday, we attended All Souls Mass led by the Fourth Grade. We will be celebrating Mass as a school community each First Friday, please consider joining us.

Upcoming Days: November 9 and November 12

There is no school for students in Nursery and K-8 on Friday, November 9. Teachers and teacher aides will be attending a professional development workshop. School is still in session for students in Pre-K. There will still be Breakfast and Extended Care for Pre-K students. School will be closed on Monday, November 12 for Veterans Day.

Box Tops

As per Mrs. Lindo’s count, we were able to collect $275.00 worth of Box Tops for the month of October! Thank you to all of the students that have submitted Box Tops! Let’s keep the momentum going!

Pie Sale

There is still plenty of times to order the delicious pies for your Thanksgiving dinner! Our Annual Thanksgiving Pie Sale will extend until Wednesday, November 14. There are extra flyers in the office if needed.

Payment must be made in full with the order form. All checks are to be made payable to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy. Delivery of the pies will be on Monday, November 19.

Confirmation

The Class of 2019 will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Friday, November 8 at 4PM.  Most Reverend Bishop Octavio Cisneros will be confirming our students. The students have been preparing for this sacrament since the Seventh Grade and are eager to achieve this important milestone in their spiritual journey. All are welcome to join in this most joyous occasion.

Wall of Fame

On Monday, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy celebrated all the students that earned Wall of Fame for the month of October. Students in Grades 1-8 will participate in Wall of Fame each month. Students that receive Wall of Fame will earn a dress-down pass and free ice cream on the scheduled celebration day.

To earn Wall of Fame, students must:

  • Be prepared for class
  • No unexcused lateness
  • No unexcused absences
  • No missing homework assignments
  • Classwork is complete
  • No uniform violations

I look forward to seeing even more students on the Wall of Fame in November!
