Principal Newsletter 9.9.19

Welcome to the start of a brand new school year! It has been an exciting first three days of school! OLMCA is a special place and it truly starts with our mission statement:

Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Academy is committed to academic excellence that is rooted in the Catholic faith, affirmed by the teachings of Jesus Christ, and centered on our service to God, family, and community.

Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Michelle Beadle and Mrs. Karen Hoffman to the OLMCA faculty. Mrs. Beadle is our 5-8 Math teacher and Mrs. Hoffman is our 5-8 ELA teacher. Their experience in middle school education is guaranteed to enhance teaching and learning at OLMCA.

I would also like to share that Mrs. Jessica Orlov is our school librarian. Mrs. Orlov had quite an exciting summer as she welcomed her first son! Mrs. Orlov will be on maternity leave for the month of September as she enjoys time with her family. A familiar face will be substituting for Mrs. Orlov! I am pleased to announce that Ms. Ann Quinlivan will be working with all our students in the Library for the month of September. Her experience and familiarity with OLMCA is sure to make for a smooth transition.

Back to School Night for students in Grade K-8 will be on Thursday, September 12 at 6:30PM. Our K-8 teachers eagerly await the opportunity to meet the parents of their students! We will gather in the school gymnasium where I will welcome all of you. After my presentation, you will go upstairs to meet your child’s teacher! Parents will go directly to the classrooms for 15-minute sessions, with three separate sessions available for parents with multiple children. If you have a child in grades 5-8, you will remain in the gymnasium.

Please make sure that your emergency card has been filled out. This will allow for the most effective communication between the office and you! We will continue to use the OptionC Learning Management System for all students and parents. This system provides an online resource for students and parents to retrieve important information. You will receive a username and password on Back to School Night. This will allow you to view grading information and attendance for your child. It is very easy to use and will be a means of communication between the academy and you and your child/children.

As a reminder, we ask that you follow us on Facebook! Our goal this year is greater outreach to our alumni. Be sure to like our page and share it with your friends and family. You can access our page at:

I look forward to working with you and the teachers as partners to ensure your child’s success, spiritually and academically.
